Since December 2003 the women of the Sheridan Hills neighborhood have been gathering for their Annual Holiday Party and Yankee Gift Swap. It has always been a night filled with good cheer, laughter, friendship and joy.

Luminary Night Was A Success

A big thank you to Linda M. for coordinating luminary night for SHA which took place on Sunday December 14, 2008. It was a very pleasant evening for SHA residents. Perhaps you heard the jingle of the horses or the carolers as they passed your house.

Bunco Procedures:

The host sends out an email on (or shortly after) the 1st of the month to the BUNCO email list with info for that month (where, date, etc.)
Bunco is usually held on the the 3rd Tuesday of the month so that everyone can plan to keep that day clear. If that date doesn't work for the host they can reschedule to a different day or ask someone to host for them. The email should be clear that it is a "different day" if it is not the 3rd Tuesday.
The host will determine if we play or just socialize.
The host determines if we will play for cash or donate the money to a charity of her choosing.
Once the responses have been received, the host will send out a confirmation email to the entire Bunco email list with who is coming/playing.
The host will provide refreshments of her choosing. Standard fare is wine, water, salty and sweet snacks.
The host will pass the Bunco box to the next month's host.
December Bunco has been reserved as a Yankee Swap/Holiday Party for socializing and celebrating!

Luminary Night Horse & Buggy Rides

Hello everyone!

What a FABULOUS response to luminary night! Our generous neighborhood will be donating $375 to Friendly Aid from the sale of luminaries. What a wonderful gift, especially in these economic times when Friendly Aid will be needing it the most. Thanks so much for your generosity!! I still have some luminary kits available if you or someone you know (in the neighborhood or not) wants one.

Because of the overwhelming response to our Horse & Buggy rides, I've doubled up families so we wouldn't have to turn anyone away. I looked at the time you requested and the number of people and tried to pair families up the best I could. See the schedule and route below.

If for some reason the time doesn't work for you, please contact another family in your desired time frame to switch with. Please keep in mind the buggy holds 6 adults comfortably, so kids may need to ride on laps.

I will be making up tickets with times on them so you can just give your tickets directly to the driver, so if you switch with someone please let me know and/or make sure you switch tickets. I will distribute the tickets with the luminary kits early next week. We need volunteers to help with the distribution of kits. Please contact me via email if you can help.

The horse and buggy rides will start at the Redmond's driveway at 28 Sheridan Road and make their way down Sheridan Road toward the school. It will take a left at Hastings Street past the school and a left at Madison Road. It will follow Madison Road until it intersects with Sheridan Road and will take a right onto Sheridan Road back to the Redmond's driveway. I tried to make the route as flat as possible so the horses wouldn't have to work too hard and would only need one break.

Thanks again for your continued support to the SHA!! I am looking forward to chatting with all of you as we stroll the neighborhood on the 14th. Remember, there will be hot chocolate and coffee in the Redmond's driveway (and maybe some scones & cookies). We need volunteers to get the hot chocolate and coffee from Dunkin Donuts. Luminary Night

Featuring horse and buggy rides and caroling

This year the Sheridan Hills Neighborhood will be participating in Luminary Night on Sunday evening, December 14th. The Wellesley Hills Junior Women’s Club has launched an effort to expand last year’s Luminary Night celebration (originated in another neighborhood). If you live on Sheridan or Monroe Road, you should have received a letter and order form from the WHJWC. If you live on another street, and would like to participate in luminary night and have not received a form, please complete the Luminary Night section of the RSVP form.

In addition to the luminaries, we will have a horse and buggy available to take you on a scenic route of the neighborhood. We will issue tickets in 15 minute increments between 6 pm and 9 pm so that we can avoid standing in line. Tickets will cost $10 per ride. With that in mind, we will have 12 rides available. The buggy seats 6 adults comfortably, so if you have a small group (1-3) we may double up so more people can take rides. Please indicate how many people will be in your group. The tickets will be issued on a first come first serve basis as we receive RSVP forms. We will contact you if we cannot accommodate you. Also, please be on time for your ride so that we can stay on schedule.

We will be providing hot chocolate and coffee at the Redmond's driveway, 28 Sheridan Road, where the buggy rides will begin.

We are also looking for carolers to make the night even more festive! Please let us know if you would like to carol that evening!

Please leave a wrapped gift in a shopping bag outside your door at 11:00 am on Wednesday, Dec. 24th for pickup. Please mark each gift with the child's name and include an envelope in the bag with your child's name(s) and age(s) and $2 per child to defray the cost of cleaning Santa's suit. And when Santa arrives, please have some goodies and cheer to share with Santa for his long ride!
